One of the main goals of NA61/SHINE, a fixed-target experiment at the CERN SPS, is the search for the critical point of strongly interacting matter. The comprehensive data collected during a two-dimensional scan in beam momentum (13$A$-150$A$ GeV/$c$) and system size (p+p, p+Pb, Be+Be, Ar+Sc, Xe+La, Pb+Pb) allows, in particular, for a systematic search for an enhancement of fluctuations of various observables. The Physics program of the NA60+ experiment at the CERN SPS / De Falco, Alessandro (Cagliari U. ; INFN, Cagliari)
A new heavy-ion experiment on fixed target, NA60+, has been proposed at the CERN SPS for data taking in the next years. Its main goals will focus on precision studies of thermal dimuons, strangeness and heavy quark production in Pb-Pb collisions at center-of-mass energies ranging from 5 to 17 GeV. The experiment will profit from the high-intensity beams provided by the CERN SPS in a wide energy interval, that will provide a unique opportunity to investigate the region of the QCD phase diagram at high baryochemical potential, $\mu_B$. Recent heavy-flavour measurements with ALICE / Politanò, Stefano (Polytech. Turin) /ALICE Collaboration
In this contribution, an overview on the latest results of the ALICE Collaboration on the production of heavy-flavour hadrons in pp and Pb–Pb collision systems will be presented. Due to their large masses, heavy quarks are produced on shorter time scales than the typical QGP formation time, thus they participate to the system evolution and interact with the medium constituents making the heavy-flavour quarks a perfect probe to investigate the QGP properties.
