Nonresonant central exclusive production from CMS+TOTEM
/ Sikler, Ferenc (Budapest, RMKI)
/CMS and TOTEM Collaborations
The central exclusive production of charged hadron pairs in pp collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV is examined, based on data collected in a special high-$\beta^*$ run of the LHC. Events are selected by requiring both scattered protons detected in the TOTEM Roman pots, exactly two oppositely charged identified particles in the CMS silicon tracker, and the energy-momentum balance of these four particles. Four tops, SM and BSM by ATLAS and CMS, including EFT interpretations
/ Bhowmik, Sandeep (Cantabria Inst. of Phys.)
/ATLAS and CMS Collaborations
This article presents the observation of four-top-quark ($\rm t\bar{t}t\bar{t}$) production in proton-proton collisions by the ATLAS and CMS experiments at the CERN LHC.
The analysis is performed using data samples collected by both experiments separately at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV during 2016-2018
and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 140 $\rm fb^{-1}$ and 138 $\rm fb^{-1}$ by the ATLAS and CMS Collaborations respectively.
Events containing two leptons with the same electric charge or at least three leptons (electrons or muons) are selected.
Event kinematics are used to separate signal from background through a multivariate discriminant, and dedicated control regions are used to constrain the dominant backgrounds.
The observed (expected) significance of the measured $\rm t\bar{t}t\bar{t}$ signal with respect to the standard model (SM) background-only hypothesis
is 6.1 (4.3) standard deviations by the ATLAS and 5.6 (4.9) standard deviations by CMS experiment.
The $\rm t\bar{t}t\bar{t}$ production cross section is measured to be $\rm 22.5^{+6.6}_{-5.5}$ fb and $\rm 17.7^{+4.4}_{-4.0}$ fb by the ATLAS and CMS experiment respectively,
in agreement with the available standard model predictions.
Data are also used by the ATLAS experiment to set limits on the three-top-quark production cross section, being an irreducible background not measured previously,
and to constrain the top-Higgs Yukawa coupling and effective field theory operator coefficients that affect $\rm t\bar{t}t\bar{t}$ production..

Correlations between anisotropy flow and mean transverse momentum using subevent cumulants in small systems at CMS
/ Singh, Rohit Kumar (Indian Inst. Tech., Madras)
/CMS Collaboration
A measurement of correlations between mean transverse momentum and multiparticle cumulants in pp at $\sqrt{s} = 13 \, \text{TeV}$, proton-lead (pPb) at $\sqrt{s_{\mathrm{NN}}} = 8.16 \, \text{TeV}$, and peripheral lead-lead (PbPb) collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\mathrm{NN}}} = 5.02 \, \text{TeV}$ are presented for Fourier harmonics $n=2$ and $n=3$. Notably, sign changes in modified Pearson correlators are observed in pp and pPb systems as a function of charged particle multiplicity, but these changes disappear with an increased pseudorapidity gap. Search for a standard model-like Higgs boson in the mass range between 70 and 110$~\mathrm{GeV}$ in the diphoton final state in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}=13~\mathrm{TeV}$
/ Tao, Junquan (Beijing, Inst. High Energy Phys.)
/CMS Collaboration
The results of a search for a standard model-like Higgs boson decaying into two photons in the mass range between 70 and 110$~\mathrm{GeV}$ are presented. The analysis uses the data set collected with the CMS experiment in proton-proton collisions corresponding to, respectively, $36.3~\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$, $41.5~\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ and $54.4~\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$, during the 2016, 2017 and 2018 LHC running periods, at $\sqrt{s}=13~\mathrm{TeV}$. The expected and observed $95\pct$ confidence level upper limits on the product of the cross section and branching fraction of an additional Higgs boson, with respect the one with around 125$~\mathrm{GeV}$ mass, decaying into two photons are presented.
