/ Cantalapiedra, G Aparicio (CERN) ; Oliveira, J (CERN) ; Corso, J P (CERN) ; Fessia, P (CERN) ; Maridor, S (CERN) ; Modena, M (CERN)
The High Luminosity Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC) project is an upgrade of the LHC aiming to increase by a factor 10 the harvested integrated luminosity foreseen early 40s. During Long Shutdown 3, scheduled to begin at the end of 2025, nearly 1.2 km of accelerator components, including a range of services spread across surface and underground facilities, will be replaced with new equipment deploying innovative key technologies. Potential and constraints of a beam-beam wire compensator in the HL-LHC era
/ Sterbini, G (CERN) ; Bertarelli, A (CERN) ; Papaphilippou, Y (CERN) ; Poyet, A (CERN) ; Rossi, A (CERN) ; Bélanger, P (TRIUMF)
The compensation of the long-range beam-beam interactions by DC wires is currently being investigated as an option for enhancing machine performance in the framework of the High-Luminosity LHC Project. In this paper, we report and comment on the potential of wire compensation during the first HL-LHC run. [...]

Beam-induced heating mitigation of the SPS kickers: a crucial upgrade to move towards HL-LHC beam intensities
/ Zannini, C (CERN) ; Barnes, M (CERN) ; Diaz, M (CERN) ; Ducimetière, L (CERN) ; Standen, D (CERN) ; Rumolo, G (CERN) ; Trubacova, P (CERN)
Beam-induced heating of equipment can have several undesirable effects, including rendering the equipment temporarily inoperative, equipment degradation and/or damage. Hence, to avoid these problems, it can be necessary to limit beam intensity. [...]

Overview of material choices for HL-LHC collimators
/ Accettura, C (CERN) ; Biancacci, N (CERN) ; Bruce, R (CERN) ; Carra, F (CERN) ; Mounet, N (CERN) ; Kurtulus, A (CERN ; Zurich, ETH) ; Nuiry, F -X (CERN) ; Perillo Marcone, A (CERN) ; Redaelli, S (CERN)
In view of the High-Luminosity (HL-LHC) upgrade of the LHC collimation system, different materials were investigated to determine how the jaws of the new collimators could be manufactured to meet the demanding requirements of HL-LHC, such as thermomechanical robustness and stability, RF impedance, UHV, etc. During the Long-Shutdown 2 (LS2), five primary and 10 secondary low-impedance collimators were already produced using novel material. Impedance analysis of deformable RF contact bridges for high luminosity LHC

In order to maintain the continuity of the vacuum system wall and comply with beam stability limits, radio frequency contact bridges are utilised as transitional elements in beam vacuum line interconnections. These radio frequency contact bridges must absorb and correct longitudinal, angular, and transverse misalignments brought on by mechanical motions during assembly, alignment, operating phases and thermal influences during accelerator operation. Transverse beam coupling impedance studies at the CERN Proton Synchrotron Booster after the LHC Injectors Upgrade
/ Antuono, C (CERN ; Rome U.) ; Asvesta, F (CERN) ; Rumolo, G (CERN) ; Zannini, C (CERN) ; Migliorati, M (Rome U.)
After the LHC Injectors Upgrade (LIU) project, the CERN Proton Synchrotron Booster (PSB) operates with a new injection kinetic energy of 160 MeV and an extraction energy of 2 GeV. In light of this, several measurements have been performed to characterize the behaviour of the accelerator in terms of beam stability and beam coupling impedance in the new energy range. [...]
