Low-Frequency Analytical Model of Superconducting Magnet Impedance / Martino, Michele (CERN)
A superconducting magnet for particle accelerators is often modeled as an ideal inductor, as it indeed exhibits a completely negligible resistance; this is fully satisfactory, as an example, for control purposes, as the time constant formed by the magnet inductance and the resistance of normal conducting cables connecting it to the power converter accurately describe the essentially dominant dynamics of the circuit. Such a model would however fail to correctly represent the noise attenuation mechanism at play in practical superconducting magnets, which also include a vacuum pipe or a beam screen in the inner part of the aperture, an iron yoke on the outer part, and, potentially, a stainless steel or aluminum collar in between. Prospects for beam-based study of dodecapole nonlinearities in the CERN High-Luminosity Large Hadron Collider / Maclean, Ewen Hamish (CERN) ; Carlier, Felix Simon (CERN) ; Dilly, Joschua Werner (Humboldt University of Berlin (DE)) ; Giovannozzi, Massimo (CERN) ; Tomas Garcia, Rogelio (CERN)
Nonlinear magnetic errors in low-β insertions can have a significant impact on the beam-dynamics of a collider such as the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and its luminosity upgrade (HL-LHC). Indeed, correction of sextupole and octupole magnetic errors in LHC experimental insertions has yielded clear operational benefits in recent years. [...]

Degradation of performance in superconducting magnets can be a major concern when a brittle material like Nb3Sn is employed. Indeed, degradation can significantly alter the transport properties of a cable if, e.g. [...]

A High Granularity Timing Detector for the ATLAS Detector Phase-II Upgrade / Imam, H (Hassan U., II, Ain Chock) /ATLAS HGTD Collaboration
To boost the performance of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and increase the potential of discoveries after 2027, the High-Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC) project has been announced, with the aim of increasing the luminosity by a factor of 10 above the design value of the LHC. This will lead to an increase of the pile-up interactions and will negatively impact the reconstruction of objects in the ATLAS detector, as well as its triggering performance. [...]
