Diffusion of Implanted 195Au Radiotracer Atoms in Amorphous Silicon under Irradiation with 1 Mev-N+ Ions / Voss, T (Stuttgart, Max Planck Inst.) ; Scharwaechter, P (Stuttgart, Max Planck Inst.) ; Frank, W (Stuttgart, Max Planck Inst. ; CERN) /ISOLDE Collaboration
The diffusion of implanted $^{195}$Au in Au-doped amorphous Si was studied, partly under N$^+$-irradiation by means of a radiotracer technique, in which the serial sectioning of the specimens was done by Ar$^+$-beam sputtering. It was found that high implantation doses in combination with great diffusion lengths give rise to complicated shapes of the diffusion profiles. [...]

Terbium-149 production: a focus on yield and quality improvement towards preclinical application / Favaretto, C (Basel U. ; PSI, Villigen) ; Grundler, P V (PSI, Villigen) ; Talip, Z (PSI, Villigen) ; Köster, U (Laue-Langevin Inst. ; CERN) ; Johnston, K (CERN) ; Busslinger, S D (PSI, Villigen) ; Sprung, P (PSI, Villigen) ; Hillhouse, C C (PSI, Villigen) ; Eichler, R (PSI, Villigen ; Bern U.) ; Schibli, R (PSI, Villigen ; Zurich, ETH) et al.
Terbium-149 (T$_{1/2}$ = 4.1 h, E$_{α}$ = 3.98 MeV (16.7%), 28 µm range in tissue) is a radionuclide with potential for targeted alpha therapy. Due to the negligible emission of α-emitting daughter nuclides, toxicity to healthy tissue may be reduced in comparison with other α-particle emitters. [...]

Precision spectroscopy and laser-cooling scheme of a radium-containing molecule / Udrescu, S M (MIT) ; Wilkins, S G (MIT) ; Breier, A A (Kassel U.) ; Athanasakis-Kaklamanakis, M (CERN ; Leuven U.) ; Ruiz, R F Garcia (MIT) ; Au, M (CERN ; Mainz U.) ; Belošević, I (TRIUMF) ; Berger, R (Philipps U. Marburg) ; Bissell, M L (Manchester U.) ; Binnersley, C L (Manchester U.) et al.
Molecules containing heavy radioactive nuclei are predicted to be extremely sensitive to violations of the fundamental symmetries of nature. The nuclear octupole deformation of certain radium isotopes massively boosts the sensitivity of radium monofluoride molecules to symmetry-violating nuclear properties. [...]

Half-life determination of $^{215}$At and $^{221}$Ra with high-purity radioactive ion beams / Bara, S (KU Leuven, Dept. Phys. Astron.) ; Jajčišinová, E (KU Leuven, Dept. Phys. Astron. ; Geel, JRC) ; Cocolios, T E (KU Leuven, Dept. Phys. Astron.) ; Andel, B (Comenius U.) ; Antalic, S (Comenius U.) ; Camaiani, A (Florence U. ; INFN, Florence ; KU Leuven, Dept. Phys. At CERN-ISOLDE, high-purity radioactive ion beams of $^{219}$Fr and $^{221}$RaF were investigated with $\alpha$-decay spectroscopy at the CRIS and ASET experiments in the course of three different experimental campaigns. The half-life of $^{215}$At, $\alpha$-decay daughter of $^{219}$Fr, is measured to be 36.3(3)[9]μs, and that of $^{221}$Ra was determined to be 26.2(1)[6]s, both of which are well in line with the trends in this region of the nuclear landscape but at odds with some of the reported literature..

Emission $^{57}$Fe Mössbauer spectroscopy (eMS), following the implantation of radioactive $^{57}$Mn+ ions, has been used to study the temperature dependence of the hyperfine magnetic field at Fe sites in Ba-doped BiFeO$_3$ (BFO) thin films. $^{57}$Mn β decays (t$_{1/2}$ = 90 s) to the 14.4 keV Mössbauer state of $^{57}$Fe, thus allowing online eMS measurements at a selection of sample temperatures during Mn implantation. Extracting clean low-energy spectra from silicon strip detector telescopes around punch through energies / Jensen, E A M (Aarhus U.) ; Riisager, K (Aarhus U.) ; Fynbo, H O U (Aarhus U.)
The response of detector telescopes becomes complex around their relevant punch through energies: For some deposited energies the corresponding particle kinetic energies cannot be uniquely assigned, and these spurious energy regions can span several hundreds of keV if the telescopes are employed in close geometry. We present methods for producing clean low-energy spectra of light ions from detector telescopes consisting of thin doublesided silicon strip detectors (DSSSDs) backed by thick silicon pad detectors [...]
