Experimental setup for Weak Interaction Studies with Radioactive ion-beams WISArD / Atanasov, D (CERN) ; Cresto, F (LPC, Caen) ; Nies, L (CERN) ; Pomorski, M (LP2I, Bordeaux) ; Versteegen, M (LP2I, Bordeaux) ; Alfaurt, P (LP2I, Bordeaux) ; Araujo-Escalona, V (Leuven U.) ; Ascher, P (LP2I, Bordeaux) ; Blank, B (LP2I, Bordeaux) ; Daudin, L (LP2I, Bordeaux) et al.
The article describes the commissioning and technical development of the Weak Interaction Studies with 32Ar Decay (WISArD) experiment, installed at the radioactive ion-beam facility ISOLDE/CERN. The experiment aims to extend the present limits on scalar and tensor currents in the weak interaction and hence search for physics beyond the Standard Model. [...]

Abstract We demonstrate the combined use of scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and scanning Hall probe microscopy (SHPM) to analyse inhomogeneities in Nb3Sn wires. Inhomogeneities of the A15 phase in Nb3Sn sub-elements of a Ti-alloyed Restacked Rod Process wire and a Ta-alloyed Powder-In-Tube wire are investigated. [...]

Safety and reliability assessment of CO$_2$ refrigeration system for underground applications below -50 °C / Barroca, Pierre (CERN) ; Verlaat, Bart (CERN) ; Hafner, Armin (Norwegian U. Sci. Tech.) ; Blust, Stefanie (CERN) ; Hulek, Wojciech (CERN) ; Zwalinski, Lukasz (CERN) ; Teixeira, Daniella (CERN)
A new CO$_2$ refrigeration concept is evaluated to cool the ATLAS and CMS experiments installed close to 100 m underground, at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN. The first prototype unit produced to validate the conceptual design and to assess safety and reliability of the system has been commissioned. [...]

Electromagnetic metamaterials to approach superconductive-like electrical conductivity / Danisi, A (CERN ; Euratom, St. Paul Lez Durance) ; Zannini, C (CERN)
This paper explores the possibility of using electromagnetic metamaterials to synthesize an equivalent structure that approaches superconductive-like properties, i.e. extremely high electrical conductivity. [...]

Vacuum chamber conditioning and saturation simulation tool (VacuumCOST): Enabling time-dependent simulations of pressure and NEG sticking in UHV chambers / Henriksen, P L (CERN) ; Ady, M (CERN) ; Kersevan, R (CERN)
Modern particle accelerators, synchrotrons, and other machines requiring UHV frequently make use of NEG coatings to achieve low pressures and resulting high beam stability and lifetime. It is the nature of NEG pumps and coatings, that a limited amount of gas can be pumped before saturation is reached, at which point the NEG must be re-activated to pump efficiently again. [...]

Capture of dark matter particles by a galaxy in the case of a bimodal distribution of their velocities / Durrer, Ruth (Geneva U., CAP ; Geneva U., Dept. Theor. Phys.) ; Parnovsky, Serge (Geneva U., CAP ; Geneva U., Dept. Theor. Phys. ; Taras Shevchenko U. ; CERN) ; Parnowski, Aleksei (Natl. Acad. of Sci. of Ukraine)
We have analyzed the rate of capture of dark matter (DM) particles by the galaxy in the case of the existence of two different types of DM or a bimodal velocity distribution function for DM. It is shown that, in addition to the scenario considered in our previous work which is based on the assumption of an unimodal distribution, more complex scenarios are possible in which the transition to the state of intense capture and/or exit from it can occur in two stages. Les Houches 2021—physics at TeV colliders: report on the standard model precision wishlist / Huss, Alexander (CERN) ; Huston, Joey (Michigan State U.) ; Jones, Stephen (Durham U., IPPP) ; Pellen, Mathieu (Freiburg U.)
Les Houches activities in 2021 were truncated due to the lack of an in-person component. However, given the rapid progress in the field, and the restart of the LHC, we wanted to continue the bi-yearly tradition of updating the standard model precision wishlist. [...]

(EGO, Pisa) et al.
A novel instrumented baffle surrounding the suspended end mirror in the input mode cleaner cavity of the Virgo interferometer was installed in spring 2021. Since then, the device has been regularly operated in the experiment and the obtained results indicate a good agreement with simulations of the stray light inside the optical cavity. [...]

Classification of the vacua of the dimensionally reduced low-energy limit of the heterotic string over nearly-Kähler manifolds / Manolakos, G. (Warsaw U.) ; Patellis, G. (Natl. Tech. U., Athens) ; Zoupanos, G. (Natl. Tech. U., Athens ; CERN ; Munich, Max Planck Inst. ; U. Heidelberg, ITP)
We examine the vacua of the scalar potential of the effective 4-d action, obtained after the dimensional reduction of the 10-d $\mathcal{N}=1$ heterotic supergravity coupled to an $\mathcal{N}=1$ Yang-Mills sector. The (Coset Space) dimensional reduction takes place over the three 6-d nearly-Kähler manifolds, namely the homogeneous 6-d non-symmetric coset spaces, $G_2/SU(3)$, $Sp_4/SU(2)\times U(1)$ and $SU(3)/U(1)\times U(1)$.
