Improved Resistive Plate Chambers for the upgrade of the CMS muon detector / Samalan, A (Gent U.) /CMS Collaboration
Several upgrades of the Resistive Plate Chamber (RPC) system of the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experiment are currently being implemented to ensure a highly performing muon system during the upcoming High Luminosity phase of the Large Hadron Collider which will have an increased integrated luminosity of 3000 fb$^{−1}$. The expected experimental conditions in that period present a challenge for the entire CMS detection system. [...]

Optimisation of the CMS ECAL clustering algorithms in view of LHC-Run 3 / Lyon, Anne-Mazarine (Zurich, ETH) /CMS Collaboration
The Run 3 of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) will be characterised by an enhanced level of noise in the CMS electromagnetic calorimeter (ECAL), caused by the ageing of the photosensors and the loss of crystal transparency due to radiation damage. To face these new conditions, some parameters of the clustering algorithms of the ECAL, namely the Particle-Flow Clustering and SuperClustering algorithms, are tuned to offer optimal performance in terms of signal preservation and noise and pile-up rejection. High-Field Design Concept for Second Interaction Region of the Electron-Ion Collider / Gamage, Bamunuvita (Jefferson Lab) ; Arbelaez, Diego (LBNL, Berkeley) ; Aschenauer, Elke (Brookhaven) ; Berg, J (Brookhaven) ; Ent, Rolf (Jefferson Lab) ; Ferracin, Paolo (LBNL, Berkeley) ; Morozov, Vasiliy (ORNL, Oak Ridge (main)) ; Rajput-Ghoshal, Renuka (Jefferson Lab) ; Sabbi, GianLuca (LBNL, Berkeley) ; Satogata, Todd (Jefferson Lab) et al.
Efficient realization of the scientific potential of the Electron Ion Collider (EIC) calls for addition of a future second Interaction Region (2nd IR) and a detector in the RHIC IR8 region after the EIC project completion. The second IR and detector are needed to independently cross-check the results of the first detector, and to provide measurements with complementary acceptance. [...]

The CALICE AHCAL: a highly granular SiPM-on-tile hadron calorimeter prototype / Laudrain, Antoine (Mainz U., Inst. Phys.) /CALICE Collaboration
The Analogue Hadron Calorimeter (AHCal) of the CALICE collaboration is a technological prototype for future linear collider detectors, addressing scalability, integration and engineering challenges imposed by the experimental environment. It is based on the SiPM-on-tile technology, where the active layers of the calorimeter are formed by 3 × 3 cm$^{2}$ plastic scintillator tiles placed on top of SiPMs mounted on readout boards that also house SPIROC-2E front-end ASICs. Fast Beam Condition Monitor of the CMS experiment at HL-LHC / Sedghi, Mohammad (Isfahan Tech. U.) /CMS Collaboration
To achieve the challenging target of 1% precision for luminosity measurement at the high-luminosity LHC (HL-LHC) with instantaneous luminosity up to 7.5×10$^{34}$ cm$^{−2}$ s$^{−1}$, the CMS experiment will employ multiple luminometers with orthogonal systematics. A key component of the proposed system is a standalone luminometer, the Fast Beam Condition Monitor (FBCM), which is fully independent of the central trigger and data acquisition and hence is able to operate outside of CMS data taking periods at 40 MHz providing bunch-by-bunch luminosity measurement with 1 s time granularity. A muon tracking algorithm for the Level 1 trigger in the CMS barrel muon chambers during HL-LHC / Ruiz, Jose Manuel Cela (Madrid, CIEMAT) /CMS Collaboration
This contribution presents results on the Analytical Method (AM) algorithm for trigger primitive (TP) generation in the CMS Drift Tube (DT) chambers during the High Luminosity LHC operation (HL-LHC or LHC Phase II). The algorithm has been developed and validated both in software with an emulation approach, and through hardware implementation tests. [...]

Characterization and verification of the Shunt-LDO regulator and its protection circuits for serial powering of the ATLAS and CMS pixel detectors / Kampkötter, Jeremias (Applied Sci. U., Dortmund) ; Karagounis, Michael (Applied Sci. U., Dortmund) ; Koukola, Dominik (CERN) ; Loddo, Flavio (INFN, Bari) ; Orfanelli, Stella (CERN) ; Luengo, Alvaro Pradas (EADS CASA, Madrid) ; Traversi, Gianluca (Bergamo U.) ; Kokozinski, Rainer (Duisburg-Essen U.)
The Shunt-LDO regulator has been integrated in the ATLAS and the CMS pixel detector RD53 front-end chip to implement the serial powering scheme which both experiments have chosen as the baseline option for the HL-LHC upgrade. The performance of the integrated regulators has been characterized and specific design challenges have been identified which are related to layout parasitics and shallow trench isolation (STI) stress effects. ECAL trigger performance in Run 2 and improvements for Run 3 / Tishelman-Charny, Abraham (Northeastern U.) /CMS Collaboration
The CMS electromagnetic calorimeter (ECAL) is a high resolution crystal calorimeter operating at the CERN LHC. It is read out at 40 MHz (the proton-proton collision rate) in order to provide information to the hardware-level (Level-1) trigger system, which decides whether the full CMS detector must be read out for each collision.
